This engagement combines remote content development and editing with in-person shoot days and select meetings in Los Angeles. In-person dates will be coordinated in advance.

Following the initial 90-day term, Better U and the contractor will review the engagement, including deliverables, results, business needs, and mutual fit. The engagement may be extended or may lead to an opportunity for full-time employment. Neither renewal nor conversion to employment is guaranteed.

About the Engagement

Better U is seeking an experienced Los Angeles–based Video Content Creator / Marketing Content Specialist for an initial 90-day independent-contractor engagement of 20 hours per week.

This opportunity is suited to a self-directed creative professional who can take a concept from idea to finished asset, bring fresh ideas to the table, and deliver polished content without step-by-step production guidance.

You will collaborate with Better U’s founder and external marketing agency to develop short-form and select long-form video for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Projects may include founder-led videos, podcast clips, event coverage, interviews, educational content, and paid social creative.

You will also use AI production tools such as HeyGen, ElevenLabs, and similar platforms to improve production efficiency while maintaining a consistent brand voice and quality standard.

The initial scope will prioritize video production and editing. Additional marketing content projects may be included by mutual agreement, within the contracted hours and scope.

Scope of Services

• Concept development: Pitch, script, and storyboard video concepts aligned with Better U’s brand voice, audience, and campaign priorities.
• Production: Plan and execute agreed-upon shoots, including filming, lighting, audio, framing, and on-camera participation when appropriate.
• Founder-led content: Turn founder insights, interviews, podcasts, and raw footage into engaging content that supports both Better U’s brand and its founder’s personal brand.
• Post-production: Edit footage into platform-ready videos with strong hooks, captions, music, graphics, and clean transitions.
• AI-assisted production: Use AI video, avatar, voice, and captioning tools where appropriate, with careful review for accuracy, brand consistency, and quality.
• Content repurposing: Adapt long-form recordings, event footage, and existing assets into short-form clips and other agreed-upon marketing content.
• Platform optimization: Recommend formats, pacing, and creative approaches suited to each platform.
• Performance review: Review available content metrics with the marketing agency and recommend improvements to future creative.
• Asset management: Maintain an organized library of raw footage, project files, audio, and final deliverables.

Specific deliverables, priorities, deadlines, and shoot dates will be agreed upon at the start of the engagement and adjusted by mutual agreement within the contracted scope.

Qualifications

• At least two years of hands-on video production, editing, and content creation experience.
• A portfolio demonstrating strong short-form video work for TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts.
• Proficiency in Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, and/or After Effects.
• Experience filming with DSLR/mirrorless cameras and high-quality smartphone setups.
• Hands-on experience with HeyGen, ElevenLabs, or similar AI production tools.
• Strong storytelling skills, including hooks, pacing, narrative structure, and visual composition.
• Comfort conducting short interviews, recording voiceovers, and appearing on camera.
• Ability to independently manage production workflows and meet agreed-upon deadlines.
• Based in the Los Angeles area and available for coordinated in-person shoots and select meetings at our Hollywood office or other agreed-upon locations.

Nice to Have

• Experience building founder-led or personal brands.
• Experience producing paid social video ads.
• Motion graphics and basic color-grading skills.
• Familiarity with health, wellness, or mental health brands.
• Experience creating content for email, SMS, landing pages, or other marketing channels.
• Experience filming live events, conferences, or podcasts.

Contract Terms and Compensation

• Rate: $30–$40 per hour, based on experience and portfolio.
• Commitment: 20 hours per week.
• Initial term: 90 days.
• Work arrangement: Hybrid, with remote editing and content development plus coordinated in-person shoot days and select meetings.
• Review: At the end of the initial term, both parties will review the engagement and discuss whether to extend the contract, revise the scope, or explore a full-time employee opportunity.
• Future employment: Any full-time opportunity would be subject to business needs, mutual agreement, and a separate written employment offer.
• Benefits: This contractor engagement does not include employee benefits such as PTO, EAP participation, or a 401(k).
