For decades, Molly lived in a quiet cycle of depression. One that began as early as age 12. By 18, she had been formally diagnosed and placed on her first antidepressant. From there, she cycled through nearly every available medication, each one offering just enough relief to keep going, but never enough to feel truly free.
"I would get better enough that the side effects weren’t worth it,” she shared. “And then I’d stop. Wait until I crash again. That was my life for a very long time.”
But everything shifted when Molly found Better U and began at-home ketamine therapy. A scientifically backed treatment that not only eased her symptoms but helped her reconnect with a part of herself she hadn’t felt in years.
“I remember thinking, ‘What is this feeling I’m having?’ I think it’s joy.”
Molly’s story reflects what thousands of people experience silently: treatment-resistant depression, often rooted in unprocessed trauma. Despite years of traditional medications and therapy, she found herself stuck in emotional patterns that didn’t budge, until ketamine gave her brain something it had never accessed before: neuroplasticity.
“When I first started doing ketamine, I could physically feel there was work going on in my brain,” Molly explained. After a few sessions, she began reprocessing past trauma, not by reliving it, but by observing it safely and calmly from a new mental space. “I was aware I was in my bed, that I was safe. And that changed everything.”
With ketamine’s ability to enhance neuroplasticity, the brain’s capacity to form new connections, Molly was able to process traumatic events that had haunted her for decades. Within a few sessions, the pain began to move through her system in a way it never had before.
After decades of simply surviving, Molly began to heal on a soul level.
“What brings my life meaning now is completely different. I feel like my soul has been healed as a result of ketamine therapy. I have a whole new life.”
She started noticing small but profound shifts:
Molly, a mother and wife, had always been content to keep to herself. But after her treatment, something changed.
“I’ve joined a book club. I go cold-water swimming. I’ve met people I never would have had the courage to talk to before. At 60, I never expected my social life to blow open but it did.”
One of the aspects Molly appreciated most was the ease and safety of at-home ketamine therapy through Better U.
“It’s so nice that it’s safe, and that you can do it at home. I just say to my kids, ‘Okay, I’ve got my ketamine session,’ and I know I’m in a secure environment.”
Better U’s process is designed for comfort, autonomy, and support, all facilitated through the Better U app, where patients can:
“It makes the whole process so much easier,” Molly said. “Especially during something as emotional and personal as this.”
“The Better U care team has been tremendous,” Molly added. “They always follow up after appointments, but also give me space when I need it. It’s the perfect balance of support.”
Her story is a powerful reminder that real healing doesn’t come from masking symptoms—it comes from facing them, with the right tools and guidance.
“I’ve tried antidepressants. I’ve done self-help, meditation, therapy, you name it. But nothing helped me as deeply or as completely as ketamine therapy with Better U.”
To others who might feel nervous or skeptical about trying something new, Molly offers this:
“It’s completely safe. The support is there. You can do it at your own pace, on your own schedule. You just have to take the leap.”
What she discovered on the other side of that leap was more than healing; was herself.
“There could be so much more to your life than you ever thought possible.”
